Both tenses are used in a past action that is connected to present. Their difference is that the present perfect continous is used when the action doesn't stop.
Examples :
Present perfect : I have been working as a secretary for 5 years.
I am not a secretary day and night, I
go back home, where I stop doing my job and then I go back to work the day after.
Present perfect continous : I have
been calling for help for half an hour.
That means that during half an hour, I have been calling without stoping,
because as long as anyone doesn't
save me, I'm still in danger and I still
need some help.
